1955 JOWETT 'ROCHDALE' JUPITER

Just months after the end of Jowetts official production run in 1955, this car - chassis no. GCR 7/55 - was bought from the factory in component form and handbuilt by a young engineer with a passion for motorsport. This characterful Rochdale Jupiter has been meticulously converted into a fully FIA-compliant club racer. Work by the original owner also saw the gearlever move from the floor to the dash, and a bespoke fibreglass body made for the car.

With a competition racing provenance, this flat-4 engined, 1.5L racers life is peppered with period competition history ranging from club-level hillclimb and autocross to the 2000-mile continental Pirelli Marathon in 1989 where it competed against the likes of Stirling Moss.

Converted to race specification by the original owner by means of a ventilation nostril for the water pump, uprated suspension and improved bodywork, the car has also had a full body-off restoration of the chassis more recently.

This 3-owner car is presented in British Racing Green with a single bucket seat and adjustable dampers, and features a full suite of safety equipment, giving it full eligibility for classic sports car racing. The charming Rochdale Jupiter is race ready out-of-the-box and provides an accessible route into historic motorsport.
